Is there a difference between MP3 export and playing directly from the app?

Yes. Playing from the app generates the frequencies live with synthesizers, which gives full session length and real-time interaction. MP3 export is a compressed, shorter version (10-20 mins), but is still effective and can be looped for extended use.
